Sehwag Smashes Delhi Daredevils To Ten-Wicket Win

Delhi Daredevils 58-0 (Sehwag 38no) beat
Kings XI Punjab 104-7 (Vettori 3-15) by ten wickets (D/L)

Virender Sehwag led his Delhi Daredevils side to a convincing ten-wicket Duckworth/Lewis win over the Kings XI Punjab, winning the match with a six in Cape Town.

Rain first reduced the match to 12 overs per side and the Kings XI, through openers Karan Goel (38) and Ravi Bopara (22) got off to a flying start, racing to 67 for one after six overs. After the strategy break, the Daredevils hit back, left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori removing Bopara, Kumar Sangakkara (8) and Mahela Jayawardene (6) to finish with three for 15 as the Kings XI stumbled towards a finishing score of 104 for seven.

Sehwag then blitzed 38 in 16 deliveries to ensure that a rain-adjusted target of 54 in six overs was little bother, Gautam Gambhir unbeaten on 15 at the other end.

Sehwag hit four fours and three sixes in all, smashing IPL debutant Yusuf Abdulla for 19 runs in one over although he had to work hard to eclipse some of the hitting from Goel earlier in the day, the left-hander crunching three fours and three sixes in his 21-ball innings.

His hard work was undone by a brilliant spell of bowling from Vettori and two run outs further hampered the Kings XI cause.
